trying to think of a reason to blog. very weird idea. really no historical precident for a blog.
i guess it fills the urge of writing a book, without having to deal with a publisher, but also without the benefit of receiving anything in return. hmm.

well perhaps i'll scratch that itch here. like having a diary for anyone to read... although who has time to bother. probably it is fairly tempered stuff then. not going to tell about deepest secrets.

o.k. every book needs a premise.

mine will be... umm... hmm. there is the tension between the environment and the industrial world, between people enjoying comforts, conveniences, luxuries, etc. and the resulting degrading of the natural world - spending our ecological capital.

and an audience

umm. how about george bush. this is a blog dedicated to george bush. nah.. how about my mom? o.k.

o.k. mom. this is my first post.

I'm flying down to see mom in mexico in three weeks. just booked the flight today. tried to get a seat next to my girlfriend, no luck. this is a luxury i suppose. luxury and comfort. not really necessary for me. i could easily stay here. be cold and wet. but for warm sunny and dry, i'm willing to spend some of everyone else's natural capital... tragedy of the commons, most everyone's spending it too. i'm just spending a little.

we'll this blogging could take a lot of time. so i'm done for today.
